We all know how it goes. You get out to a promising highpoint and stuck right there in the midst is one of those pesky communication towers. Sometimes you have ownership information and sometimes you are stuck up the hill without a clue.

Well, the Federal government, has provided a rare opportunity to use it's immense data base for something other than a source of Social Security numbers for foreign hackers.

The FCC maintains a database of towers sites and operators that is highly searchable at the URL below. I would recommend the coordinate search as it is easiest. Unfortunately, it requires coordinate in DDD.MM.SS--use a broad radius search. A search by the name of the operator is likely to not be successful as the operators will often use a number of DBA's.

>From what I have discerned from a web search, if a tower is not listed then it probably isn't registered and there appears to be a mechanism to bring it to the attention of the regulators.

Oooh! I'll bookmark this but is there anyway to post it to the website as a
resource? I'm always on a different device and would love to be able to
find this.
