Out on the open barren slopes of Mount Jefferson, NV, ran into Michael Schwartz. Remember that Mike? I was on my decent and saw some person waaaay out in the distance so I decided to angle towards them while they did the same. After finding out it was Mike I spun around and hiked back on up with him. </span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"></span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Second - 09/27/2003 - my mom, Pat Wymore, along with Julie Kawa, ran into Bob Packard down at the base of the western areas of Harding County, SD. The short story is we pulled up and saw a truck with a camper on the back parked off the side of the road and of course knew immediate who the owner might be. We knocked and out popped Bob. We introduced ourselves and went our separate ways.</span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"></span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Third - 06/28/2014 - stumbled upon Alan Bernier and Rob Woodall, while coming off of Ibapah Peak during my second lap of the Utah CoHPs. These guys are good. Shortly after I received an email from Adam, stating he'd heard from Rob who mentioned to him the chance encounter.</span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"></span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Forth - just recently on 06/28/2015 I had a little bit of time on my hands after doing Scotchman Peak in the morning so decided to drive on over and try my luck on Latour Peak (Kootenai, ID, CoHP) in the early afternoon. As I got closer to the peak I noticed two individuals getting near topping out so I turned it up a notch. There I met Barb Lilley and Richard Carey! We introduced ourselves, chatted a bit - good time.</span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"></span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Fifth and final one - back on March 24, 2005, I was on the freeway heading east towards Flagstaff, when I looked over at the truck on the side of me and saw ol' Mike Coltrin, of Grand Canyon lore. Remember him? Well, we waved each other over and stood there chatting on the side of the freeway. He mentioned he was heading to the Motel 6 in Flagstaff to meet someone so I decided to follow him on in since I was heading that way. In the motel room was Dave Covill.</span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"></span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Take that!</span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Jobe Wymore</span><br style="font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.301961); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">

I remember that one well, Jobe. I was having a bad hair day (no wisecracks from those who know me) and feeling quite sorry for myself. Not sure if I would have persisted if Jobe hadn't volunteered to hike back up with me. We had only "met" previously through e-mails.

I had a second "meeting" with county highpointers that same day on the lower slopes of Jefferson prior to meeting Jobe. My cell phone rang, and it turned out to be Trapper Robbins and Roxanne Everett, on a county highpointing trip somewhere and needing some detailed info on some county or other that I had visited and reported on. Wonder if they remember where they were and for which county hp they need the info?

CoHP chance encounters - here's 5 of them.

First (-) one was on July 5, 2002. Out on the open barren slopes of Mount Jefferson, NV, ran into Michael Schwartz. Remember that Mike? I was on my decent and saw some person waaaay out in the distance so I decided to angle towards them while they did the same. And a possible 6th chance encounter while out CoHPing =

If I remember correctly, on July 1st, 2001, I was coming down from Brokeoff Mountain with my mom and Jeanne Allen. Just below the top we had a brief conversation with a guy heading up. Come to find out later that "guy" was Andy Martin. Am I remembering this correctly, Andy?

If so - that's 6! Top that!
