Hi Dave (et al.),
Yes, I have 63/64, and yes, both my Peakbagger and LoJ accounts are sorely out of date!
I'm shooting for Vermilion on the 19th, work and weather permitting. Just shy of twelve years to complete them all, if I get it :-)
I will let you know either way, for sure. Thanks for the heads-up on the ice-axe!
Cheers,
Susan

### Susan - your Peakbagger.com account is out of date, but perusing your LOJ account, you appear to now have 63/64 CO cohps, lacking Vermilion Pk of San Juan county. Is this accurate?
Sweet...
We just got the last person remaining to sign the magic ice axe a week ago, Dan Nielsen of Avon CO. He completed over a decade ago, but fell from the radar screen. We now have all 35 CO completers on the signed axe. Room for about 5-7 more, btw....
Please let John Mitcher & I know when you plan to try Vermillion.

BTW - I believe that the NW/SE trend between Storm King and Castle Rock would make it difficult to accurately tell the relative height of these from a photo taken from hwy 550, unless the camera was at the perfect perpendicular angle, about 20d South of due W, which is a spot that seems to have hills in the way.
Since Storm King is further W and closer to the hwy, of course it will seem higher to someone several miles W of there. We have been there twice now, and never sensed a discrepancy. Map delta elevation is 41', btw...

Hi all:

Here's a nice follow up to this article. It captures some of the criticisms of the ranking many of you have posted.

So, I hesitate to post this, since it's only tangentially related to county high-pointing, but since articles with county-by-county themes seem to be of interest to many members, and it's not political, here goes . . .

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonkblog/wp/2015/08/17/every-county-in-america-ranked-by-natural-beauty/?wpmm=1&wpisrc=nl_p1most

I happen to live a few hundred yards from the number one county in the U.S.. My home county, Los Angeles, is still in the top 10 at number 7.
