OK - slow day today..... time to spark up the yahoo posts...

Q - what state that has actually seen a completion, was most recently (1st,
or 2nd or 3rd.....) completed the longest time ago? Answer at far bottom.
No fair looking..... Come on, guess, then look, or go to FRL:

http://www.cohp.org/records/state_completions/final_cts_dates.html

Q # 2 -

OK, what state that has seen TEN (10) + completions, was most recently
completed the longest time ago? Answer = NM (me in '08). I find this a
bit odd, although access issues on a handful, as well as Class 3 on Organ
Donor Peak, as well as being somewhat far from major population centers
(not that that stops any of us.....), may have all combined to make it a
more daunting proposition than say NV or AZ or UT.

We are headed down there this weekend to meet up with K&K Jones for a few
NM cohps. Sierra Blanca & Lookout, One Tree, McKnights. Weather forecast is
crap, which is thoroughly depressing to say the least.

If successful, this will put Beckie under a half-dozen to complete next
year perhaps.

We had our first snowfall here in the foothills west of Denver this past
week, one of the latest dates it has been in 20 years.

NM has 33 counties to AZ's 15. That probably has something to do with it.

There are a lot of people (going by lists such as at peakbagger) who have
almost all NM's county highpoints, many who just lack the two with bad
access (Redondo and Animas Peaks) and a couple others, Organ Needle being a
popular one to not have.

It seems that maybe Redondo Peak's access will be easier if the Valles
Calderas goes through with its plans to open more general access to the
area. I don't expect Animas Peak will ever open to the public.

If by some crazy chance those two peaks suddenly were open, you could see a
whole bunch of NM completers all at once, similar to when Mount Grant was
reopened a couple years ago, and suddenly, we had a bout a half-dozen NV
completers.

The only option for those who want to complete NM's county highpoints is to
become an outlaw on a temporary basis.

Knew the answer to the first question. Note also that the state has 83 counties, and that the leading non-completer as shown on cohp and peakbagger has only 33 counties, so unless someone gets serious about this state, it may be a long time before we see another completion. My total is a lame 16.

Not sure where this list comes from but it seems to be missing quite a few completions - somebody whose name starts with B - E - C comes to mind
