Just a curious shout out to everyone. Ken has pointed out that Hopkins County is currently...vague...

Is there any current LiDAR data for the county that might help us zero in on ANYTHING there?

I am hunkered down here as Jonas passed by: had to watch pipes etc as my house is 97 years old. So i have had time to noodle around with mid-burner projects. Hopefully later today i can finally post some current info on MN counties - i have new info for several areas.

Bald knob is only about 3 hours from me and I know it has great views in all directions. I was already thinking of heading up there.
Can you put in for time off 1.5 years ahead of time?

Someone reports that the 8-21-2017 eclipse will be 99.9% complete at Mt. Taum Sauk.

I think it worth checking how far one has to go towards totality to get to totality. Is it a few hundred meters?

I recall reading years ago about some researcher who recruited graduate assistants to record an eclipse at the margins, in order to accurately measure the width
of totality and the effects at the margin.
