Apologies if slightly off-topic from County highpoints....

Colorado Mtn Club has numerous Adventure Travel trips planned each
year. Some are walks or bike tours to Europe or Vietnam, or treks to
Yellowstone or other foreign long trails. Last year they did a trek around
the Mont Blanc Massif. They do about two dozen each year. Some of them are
to real alpine peaks that are famous, or are country highpoints.

I led one to the Mexican Volcanoes in Dec 2013 and Dec 2014, and my friend
Mike Z led the same trip last year. Other highpoint-related trips have
recently
gone to Aconcagua, Kili, Koskiusko, Elbrus. You don't have to be a Club
member to attend, you can be a guest. Cost is generally quite a bit
less than what a similar commercial trip might cost.

Here is CMC AT page:

http://www.cmc.org/AdventureTravel/AdventureTravelTrips.aspx

My friend Steve Bonowski is leading a trip in June to do the highpoints of
Bulgaria (Mt. Musala - 9,600) and Macedonia/Albania (Golem Korab - 9,000).
Dates are June 18-30. The trip also includes some other national park
hiking and incredible cultural stuff.

Steve has led trips to Kili about a dozen times, as well as Elbrus and
other foreign peaks. While he has slowed down with age, these sort of peaks
are right in his wheelhouse.

If you are interested, contact him, or go to the CMC A.T. page and apply.

I'm at 598 COHPs as of my New Orleans trip a week back. As I approach 600,
I plan to do a look-back to review my progress by each century mark. Stay
tuned.

FYI - the Nebraska highpoint, Panorama Point, is open again for business,
after being closed a month due to deep snow drifts. The plan is to improve
the access road even more this year so that it can remain open through mud
season. Snowdrifts present a different sort of problem, as visitors are
known to steer off-road around drifts and destroy the fragile prairie
habitat that the bison depend on when grazing. The HP Foundation will fund
the road access improvements and additional signage.
