Was wondering if anyone out there had any idea if Grove Hill and Briar Hil (MI) will be assessable come mid-April? Years ago I made my way up towards Mount Arvon, in April, and stumbled upon some decent snow levels. I don't mind a good long road march - just trying gauge if the 5 hour drive from Chicago, will possibly be successful or plastered with disappointment.

If there is still a lot of snow I think there would still be roads plowed up S 15 Road until it reaches a small stream crossing as it bears northwest. There was still gravel/asphalt there to that point and it turns to sandy junk after that. From that point looking at the google map you'd have a three mile walk to the point where a normal 4wd vehicle stops and you head up the last hill on the decommissioned (and overgrown) road to the top. So at most I think you'd be looking at a 3.5 mile roundtrip each way and an easy road walk for almost the entire way.

Grove Hill is easy.

Also if you want to add on a gimmee you can do day or night, looking at your route if you head up 131 to get to Grove and Briar, the Kent County highpoint is only 4 miles off the interstate with public access and a five minute or less stroll from the car.
