Greg,

Mighty fine work on this! I gave up keeping my maps current, but you have infused new life into this great tradition, so kudos to you! All my maps are now up to date, and it was very easy!

Everyone, its a great time to paint your completion maps and easily get them on the web! If you dont have a map, you can retrieve one by clicking the link for the map you want on this page <http://cohp.org/aspnet/Allmaps.aspx> , then clicking the Retrieve a Blank Map link.

Prominence folks, most of the completion maps on this site are prominence cell maps. Would love to see a bunch of new ones!

Thanks Greg!!

Bob

Subject: [cohp] Uploading New Hand-painted Competion Maps to CoHP.org

Since the passing of Adam Helman in January, 2015, it has been virtually impossible for people to post new County Highpoint completion maps to CoHP.org. The old process was to email a map to Adam, who would then post it manually. Automated maps have been available at Peakbagger.com for some time, but many of the hand-painted maps had interesting and quirky features that cannot be automated, and I feel they are a tradition that should be maintained.

Therefore, I have added functionality to CoHP.org that allows users to upload their own completion maps. This now works for not just County HP completion maps, but prominence cell maps and other map types as well.

The CoHP.org home page now has a prominent link for "County HP Completion Maps". This new link replaces the old "completion maps" link in the large section of miscellaneous links below. The old link now reads "completion maps (old, from 2015)" and will be kept for historic purposes.

In order to upload a new map, you must log in to the site. Note that Peakbagger.com and CoHP.org share the same database and login system, so your email and password will log you in to either site. To get started, make sure you are logged in to CoHP.org. This site now has cookies so you don't have to log in each time, if you chose to check the "Remember Me" checkbox.

Once logged in, go back to the CoHP.org home page, click on "County HP Completion Maps", and then the "Upload a New Map" link. That page will display a thumbnail of your current map (if you have one), and has directions for uploading a new map in the right-hand pane. Once uploaded, the site automatically stores the date of the new map, determines the colors used, and generates thumbnail images.

This new system does use new URLs for the map and index pages, so any hard-coded links to the old pages should be updated.

There is also a master completion maps page that lists all the various map types, including Prominence Cell maps, at http://cohp.org/aspnet/Allmaps.aspx. <http://cohp.org/aspnet/Allmaps.aspx> When you are logged in, it will show links to all your maps and allow you to upload and change any of them.

If anyone has technical issues, contact me by email for help. If you have a completion map on the site, and don't yet have an account, you need to first sign up for a CoHP.org account, and then contact me to get your existing map tied into your new account, before you can upload a new map.

Let's get the proud tradition of individually hand-painted CoHP maps back on track and start sharing and uploading our quirky maps!
