Yeah 107-108 degrees predicted for my hometown of Fresno in the upcoming heatwave. And of course zero percent chance of rain on ANY upcoming forecasted day.
Meanwhile I'm at Manzanita Lake in Lassen NP where 2-5 inches of snow is forecast for tomorrow! Crazy weather week here in Cali.

Highs in the lower deserts on Wednesday are forecasted to be about 100 F,
which means a morning start will work well.

Blue Angels Peak, Imperial County, CA June 15, 2016
It seems the higher deserts above 4000 feet are cooler. Late afternoon a couple of days ago it was 70 at the exit for this approach, and this morning it was 50 at 6:15, and 70 when I left at 8:30 am. I drove up the road about 1.3 miles and parked at a pullout before a rough switchback. I hiked about .3 miles to the three-way intersection, went right, then left almost to the end of the road, then followed a good trail up and around a hill. I then went down, crossed a gully, and went uphill to the summit with BM Smuggler. I hiked all the way to a higher-looking hill .22 mile south (which seems to be in Mexico), then back to the other two summits, and saw the two-rock arch below the higher summit. I visited the border monument, then went down trying to hit the end of the higher road, but missed and went for the lower road and left back up to the three-way junction. The roads and junctions were visible from the ridge of Blue Angel Peak, but not the higher road end since it is behind a hilltop, so getting lost would be hard to do. No people, helicopters, or vehicles until I got all the way down the access road, where two border patrol jeeps were sitting.
