At first glance on her website it appears Melissa's route she took on Britton Hill ventured away from the HP granite marker and into the woods where the high ground resides... Nice job.

Hey there, this is Josh Carlson. I was thinking about hitting W Butte in Carter County later this week and I saw your trip report on it where you were able to call the land owner for permission. Do you still have that number by chance?

Thanks,
Josh

Some pre-convention cohp conditions

***Having some of my group posts getting delayed or dropped on the crappy internet connections I'm finding. So I'm sorry if this becomes a double post but it hasn't shown up in the group now after sending it 15 hours ago. **

I had some mix ups in plans this week and was wandering closer to the convention earlier than I had planned so I have a few road condition reports in case people were thinking of hitting some points near or somewhat near con.

Stratford Hill - Yellowstone county - Roads are great. No 'no trespassing' signs still.

North Butte - Campbell county - Contacted the ranchers and they said it's too dry in the fields right now and they won't be accepting anyone onto their property until they get a lot more moisture.

Mine Benchmark - Natrona county - The back-country byway is good for 2wd almost all of the way. The middle piney creek crossing still has water and might be a bit rough for a 2wd (and even though dry, the south piney creek is a bit rough). For the hardcore 4wd folks. There are no boggy spots all the way to the shoulder of the high point should you want to travel through both gates.

If you're looking for climbing gear, there's a great bouldering gym in Billings called Steepworld.
If you're looking for any type of hiking gear, there is a huge Scheels on the west end of Billings.

Update from Fred Johnson - the new record time for
the 50 state high points is 41 days.

I'm slower, been at it 47 years, but just one to go ! :)
