Granite Peak rescue video

Just got back down from a Granite Peak attempt from the Froze-To-Death Plateau side. There were two helicopter rescues from the Southwest route but at the time we were going up we had no idea what they were going up there for. Looking online I found this amazing news video of one of the helicopters rescuing a highpointer off of the couloir. It's so comforting to know that as we go out on these peaks in the United States that we have such skilled search and rescue teams out there that have our backs if we have an emergency.

So true about our search and rescue people.

Unbelievably, in addition to the objective dangers that S&R personnel face, there are other dangers.

Just a friendly reminder:

SAR crews are almost all volunteers. The supporting agency will cover
necessary costs, but the SAR team is not being paid. This point is not
usually emphasized in the media, which may lead people into thinking it's a
bad use of resources and money.
