Welcome aboard, Eric. A bit of explanation: I am the "official" keeper of the roster of completers of states' county HPs. (Actually, nothing about us is official.) Around 15 years ago, when county HPing was just getting started, I mentioned to Andy Martin that someone should start keeping track of state completers while there were only a handful. His response was, "Good idea. Do it." So here I am. Kindly e-mail me directly when you finish Nevada next week. :-)

Best re gards,

Fred

I love it. It would be really cool to get together with the small group
like once a year or every other year type of thing. Nevada? lol. I am
completing a few other lists for Arizona and then I am taking a
break....... kind of burnt out. Been going at it hard for 6 years now, and
I married with 2 children and a full time career. I have already completed
the Top 20 Peaks in AZ list and the Arizona Backcountry Classic list.
Working on clearing two other lists in the next few months.

I have seen that but it doesn't fit the need I am looking for. On libre, you could search for say all the cemeteries in a county or fire towers and get a list along with coordinates and the quads that they were on
They may have been old maps, but the new ones don't have as much labeled

Anyone use libre map for getting usgs map quads?

I just tried it and it seems to an gone

Libremap.org

Their search function was great ~ it allowed you to search by feature name as well as type. I'll miss it if it's gone for good

Try this somewhat easier to use interface:

http://store.usgs.gov/b2c_usgs/usgs/maplocator/(xcm=r3standardpitrex_prd&layout=6_1_61_48&uiarea=2&ctype=areaDetails&carea=%24ROOT)/.do http://store.usgs.gov/b2c_usgs/usgs/maplocator/(xcm=r3standardpitrex_prd&layout=6_1_61_48&uiarea=2&ctype=areaDetails&carea=%24ROOT)/.do

It won't help with the lists, but you can easily download (for free) multiple editions of topo quads in all scales, in both new "US Topo" and scanned historic versions, in GeoPDF format.
Hint: AVOID the new "US Topo" series unless you're looking for aerial photography on your maps (orthophoto quads in old parlance). The new "US Topo" series maps topography layers have minimal cultural features and info (roads, names, etc.) and the contours are wildly inaccurate (simplified) to the point of being dangerous to use for on-the-ground travel (compare the same area of a US Topo map and an old standard, photogrammetrically derived, topo and the huge difference is readily apparent).

Hope this helps.

I'd just wait on this one. Despite the multiple layers of trusts that Percival Baxter installed to protect Baxter State Park from the federal government, it's only a matter of time before they find the legal wriggle room to steal it away from the state and make Katahdin the highpoint of whatever national park this becomes. To call that area a national monument is a joke. Imagine calling the snake river plains to the east of the Grand Teton a national monument if the fed was unable to take claim away from the state for the Grand Teton due to legal reasons and it would be nearly the same. It's just a stepping stone for the real prize the fed has always wanted and that's Katahdin.

I can see the feds wanting to wrangle Katahdin away from Baxter if only to
avoid the current drama with respect to finishing the AT in the park...

Highest point of Seattle

Today, I hiked from water's edge during low tide in Puget Sound in west
Seattle, at N 47 32.382' W 122 23.876', to the highest point in Seattle,
in Myrtle Reservoir Park (elevation 520 feet) at N 47 32.360' W 122
22.647'. Attached is a picture of my GPS track from my Garmin GPSMAP 64s
unit (also includes location of several geocaches that I found along the
hike).
