This of course is based on the assumption that Google maps keeps up to date with current city limits and annexations. It has been my own personal experience that Google maps was WAY out of date on the boundaries of both the city of Manila and the Manila Capital Region (a Provincial equivalent, comparable to a state in the US). Ditto the second largest city in the Philippines - Cebu. I do not, however, know how current Google maps do in the States.
So you might want to still double check with any available governmental websites.

John Mitchler wrote "As for Louisville [KY], it is the Jefferson cohp. About ten cities match with a cohp."

I can easily think of 9 major cities whose boundaries are identical or nearly so with the same county-or-independent city:
San Francisco CA
Denver CO
St. Louis MO
New Orleans LA
Washington DC
Baltimore MD
Philadelphia PA
New York City NY
Boston MA = Suffolk co. MA.

And not even counting city-county consolidations like Carson City NV, Indianapolis IN, Jacksonville FL, Virginia Beach VA, Norfolk VA, Arlington VA
Or the many smaller independent cities of VA.

maptechnica.com seems to show city limits accurately --- checking against
other known sources such as city-limits maps at individual city webpages.

Another cohp that is a major city HP is that of El Paso County TX; North
Franklin Mountain also lies within the El Paso city limits. I can think of
a couple smaller cases where the cohp is a city HP, but the city itself is
a small place. Hopkins TX's coHP lies within the city limits of Cumby, so
you get the idea.

For cities with complicated boundaries and lots of exclaves or
county-island enclaves, it still may be possible to determine a general
area of the likely HP, then hope that it lies safely within the city
limits. Perhaps the terrain is generally higher in one direction than the
other. It may be a case where the city boundaries play little or no role.

Whatever field notes you'd care to share for Columbus wouldbe great!

- - - Yes. I want my field notes checked for every cityhighpoint. I'll try to find them. Pester me if you don't hear from me. I don't want to have missed something obvious and the more eyes thebetter. The cities with a cohp are not a problem, but it's those cities HP that are notcohp which need checked. - John M

You can download the city/etc boundary shapefiles fromcensus data... i'm guessing this is the source of the data on thatcitypopulation site

- - - - Great info on downloading. Thanks Dean! I stillwant to check the latest info on a city's web site, especially on the topic ofrecent annexations. - John M

Metro Nashville consists of the entirety of DavidsonCounty, Tennessee. This will not change.

Most every square inch of Davidson County is coterminouswith the Nashville city limits with a couple of exceptions, so it will dependon where the spot near Radnor Lake is situated.

The route to this point is mostly on marked trail andthen on obvious use trail, and then an open woods hike up to the point. I haveannotated a map showing my route which I will email to you and anyone who wantsit.

The HP of pre-merger Louisville was Kenwood Hill in the old southwestern portion of the city

There are only 13 cities in NH, and basically their boundaries are fixed forever

I made a tentative HP list, feel free to check

Berlin has a genuine peak for a HP that few would know was in the city

Claremont, Dover, Keene, and Laconia have lesser peaks and Nashua has two contenders

Concord & Lebanon have liners

Somersworth is right downtown

Portsmouth may be most problematic, being among runways of air base and probably regraded

Berlin, 1189m = 3901 Mt Weeks
Claremont, 615m = 2018 Green Mtn
Concord, 870 *Oak Hill liner
Dover, 310 Long Hill
Franklin 1370 *NW bump
Keene, 423m=1388 Grays Hill
Laconia, 970 *Parade Rd
Lebanon, 507m = 1663 Shaker Mtn liner
Manchester, 575 exit 8 knoll
Nashua 426 Gilboa/Long Hill
Portsmouth, 90 *Pease ??
Rochester 581 N end
Somersworth 310 *downtown
