Investigating the question about the most repeat climbs of a COHP ...

I took ListofJohn's "Multiple Repeats by a Member" (https://listsofjohn.com/
PeakStats/Content/mrepeat.php) and marked out all the peaks that are not
COHPs.
This leaves the following leaders for "Multiple Repeats of a COHP by a
Member":
87 Mark Nichols: Pima AZ (Mount Lemmon)
73 Rick Shortt: Bland VA (Chestnut Knob)
55 "Pinpin": Essex NY (Mount Marcy)
49 "Pinpin": Franklin NY (Mount Seward)
49 Sharon Marie Wilcox: Washoe NV (Mount Rose)

I am enjoying this thread on COHPdotORG during the cold dark winter
days......

Lets focus for a moment on State Highpoints, or Lists containing COHPS,
instead of individual COHPs.

I talked to Greg Slayden recently about modifying PBdotCOM to render
Multiple Visits to a List of Peaks, like CO 14ers or US State Highpoints. He
is working to see if that can happen. All these modifications take
programming time....

I personally use both PB and LOJdotCOM. I am, more or less, perfect on PB,
but I don't enter Failures, Repeats, or silly little bumps onto my LOJ
account. I simply don't take the time, there's no deeper reason than that.

I am one visit away from Crestone Peak to completely repeat the CO COHPs.
This has largely occurred due to helping Beckie visit the ones I did myself
early on after I did, researching them all for the book John M and I
produced, and then waking up one day to discover I only was a handful away
from a full repeat. I worked on this project very casually the past few
years, and now need to go back to Crestone and its East sub-peak to finish.
When I get to the top, I will ponder Jobe Wymore and his repeat of UT, Andy
Martin and his repeat of AZ early on, followed by Scott Surgent as well, and
then I will bow down to Spooky Mike Schwartz and his ~20 repeats of the 21
counties of NJ. I know that some folks have repeated one or more New
England states, which is also a cool achievement. I hope to pull this off
this summer. Does anyone need Crestone Peak? Am I forgetting any other
non-New England State Repeats?

As an aside, I am slightly more than halfway done repeating the CO 14ers,
and again this is a very casual goal, one I hope to finish "in this
lifetime maybe"....

As for state highpoints, Stony Burk has about 400 visits to a state
highpoint. Perusing my PB account carefully (since it isn't automated yet
to count it up for me...) I have about 170. Dennis Stewart, he of the
Highpoint Hoppers Fame (early trip w 5 guys to set the initial speed record
for doing the Lower 48 HPs) just completed his THIRD full repeat of the
Lower 48. He is, obviously, well over 150 total state HP visits. I'm sure
that many of us are in the 100+ realm, either due to repeating many of
them, or due to focusing on one 1 or 2 and repeating the heck out of them.
Rick Hartman must be pretty high on this list, as he is around 30-50 climbs
on Boundary, Whitney, and Humphreys, and he is a 49.9er to boot. There
are several people who have repeated all 50 per John M's amazing Records
List, published annually in the HP Club Newsletter "Apex To Zenith".
Several more have repeated the Lower 48. All of these folks must be over
the 100 count I imagine.

I know that people over in the British Isles area heavily into repeating
their lists.

While its fun to ponder this whole sub-hobby of repeating, I believe I'll
stick primarily to spreading out my climbing efforts to new places; too
much to see in the world.

One of the cultural quirks of the Sierra Clubs Hundred Peaks Section and the Lower Peaks Committee is the emphasis on repeats of the list.

Take a look at the Emblems and Accomplishments of the HPS site: http://www.hundredpeaks.org/emblems.htm

Spoiler: The list was completed by former rocker Mars Bonfire a mind-boggling 25 times. (The list has nearly 280 peaks.) Another person has completed the list 13 times, and 5 people have completed the list 9 times. Plus, a very significant portion of these trips were done as official Sierra Club leads, which involves review of the trip by a committee, and often involves beginning and intermediate hikers. Quite incredible.

The Lower Peaks Committee List has been completed by 43 people, with my good friend Dave Comerzan having done it 4 times and closing in on number 5. http://angeles.sierraclub.org/lpc_listfinishers

If Greg figures out how to add repeat completions, that would mean a lot of data entry for those that care about such things!

Coby

As I believe I mentioned before, the hot game in NH for peakbaggers lacking imagination is to climb the 48 4k peaks in each month

I was notified last month that one guy has now done it 4 times which is a minimum of 48 times each

And yesterday when I was thinking of how cold it was fixing my storm door, a woman I've met finished the monthly goal all the same year

There was an attempt some years back to have the Catskill 3500 Club award a patch for that every peak, every month achievement in the Catskills.

It failed. Not least for the reason that it would be called the Catskill 420, which to me would be more appropriate to give to people who have smoked a joint on every summit (which, the way things are going, might eventually become legal, so maybe we should reconsider).
