I don't remember what the number was, but did anyone knock on the door of the house directly in front of the highpoint on Ridge Road? When I went there in 2011 a real estate agent was the homeowner of that house right in front of the point and he told me I could hop the fence out of his back yard to go look around. Gave me his card and tried to talk me into buying property in the area and made sure to tell other highpointers who might come down this way to look him up if they wanted to purchase a home. Very friendly and even offered me a pop as I came back through the house on my way out. I'll have to look through my old trip info to find his business card (which is in the giant piles of unsorted stuff I throw in various boxes when I get back from trips).

As to your rant paragraph on the trip report. I was thinking the same thing in the Wisconsin north woods this week. Here's my take on it. I personally don't care if someone says they made it to a highpoint and didn't. But don't write a trip report about it. Those fantasies can screw up someone's day.

I recently returned from a trip to
visit the folks down in Naples/Marco Island FL pre-Xmas. I
was able to sneak away and visit my college roommate in
Sarasota one day, and on the way back to the condo returned
to the northern of 3 Charlotte contours, which I could see
across a lengthy swamp and creek from the southern two when
I was there years ago.
I also visited both of the two areas
at Palm Beach on my way to the Fort Lauderdale airport for
my return flight to Denver. The northern one is the area
that has been in question for two decades. I was able to get
to the actual high spot as identified from aerial photo and
old topo map transposition. The southern one is as I had
found it 8 years ago, and lies in a side yard, not in an
open lot.

Much more in the PB trip

now than here in CO) C

If you are not interested in tablet or cell phone info
go no further ;)

1. Free IOS Pocket Earth PRO app today only (Saturday)

Normally a $4.99 value. Worth taking a look at.
Topo line coverage for the planet.

2. Review of $50 Android NOOK Tablet 7" by Barnes & Noble

Summary: this inexpensive low end tablet with no GPS might
interest those who are curious about tablets but
don't want to spend much to satisfy their curiosity.

Folks wanting a more capable device for
peakbagging need to get a tablet with GPS.

Details:
www.barnesandnoble.com/w/nook-tablet-7-inch-barnes-noble/1124589342
8GB memory (half already used on arrival)
Add up to 128GB with an optional microSD card*
Cameras front and rear. Built in wi fi
Weight - 9 ounces.
Quality of construction - does not seem very high, but
nothing has broken - yet.

Applications:
I loaded the following on to this tablet in the ~4 GB available:
Peakbagger - Peakbagger database + can download topo maps
all-in-one offline maps (can download topo maps)
LunaSolCal Mobile (sunset/sunrise times)
MyRadar (radar weather)
Google Translate. Spoken translation when wifi is available.
Talkatone - free USA phone calls when wifi is available
MAPS.ME - road navigation
Whats this song? google widget.

Already loaded:
Google Mail, Maps, Store, Chrome, YouTube, etc.

When traveling you will have to find a McDonalds or other
free wifi site to use many of these apps.

You will run out of memory pretty quickly if you start saving
lots of maps offline.

Advanced:
Most apps that require GPS can not be downloaded from the
Google playstore, for example Pokemon GO or Navmii USA.
However you can download apk's for these apps from
trusted sites like apkmirror.com. Pokemon was still DOA
after a test download, but Navmii actually ran, and could
compute driving routes (after some fiddling around) offline
even without GPS.

Downloading and playing mp3s - actually worked. However took
a few hours to get the USB connection working on my Windows 10
PC. And with the 4MB memory already maxed out with my apps
could not download many songs.

Reading books: In theory this is why Barnes and Noble are
selling this doo-dad. Did not test :)
