Maryland trip reports

Maryland county highpoint trip reports, Feb 11 & 12, 2017. There was a lot of "How much do I care about visiting the highest in a large flat area?"

Feb 11th I went out and visited the highpoints of St. Mary's county MD. I have little to add to the several existing reports. Chip Clark declares that his point #6, (cohp.org map area 2), at #38468 Laurel Ridge Court, is the highest. When I got there #38460 looked higher than #38468, and the dogs Chip Clark reported were at #38460. The 30-ish man who answered the door didn't seem to recognize the term 'county highpointing', but he was agreeable. He said that the highest on his property was probably in his backyard. We went back there. I asked and he indicated that he thought such-and-so small rose bush by the fence between him and #38468 was highest. I thought the house itself might be higher, but that could easily be man-made.

Feb 12th I went to Maryland's eastern shore and visited five county highpoints.
Kent: Spookymike's report needs to be edited-proofed to get the distances right and understood.
Dorchester:
Wicomico: This was 'Olsonized', as John Mitchler has used the term. I hadn't earlier printed out topo-maps or trip reports, so I was going by what I remembered from them. This is easy to remember.
Somerset:
Talbot: This was 'Olsonized', as Fred Lobdell has used the term. It was past dark when I got there. I parked about 30 ft. past the now blocked entrance to the landfill, at right angles to the road. I left the engine running and the headlights on illuminating where I wanted to go as I walked and paced about 100 ft. into the woods. I found the ground go up and a bit of a smaller heap in there, then it seemed to drop going forward. The only thing that seemed wrong was that the most prominent heap seemed to be on the south side of the old railroad grade, rather than the north side... Good enough. It would have been better if I had made better use of my time during the day, so I could have done it in daytime, and to have taken a flashlight (at home) and GPS unit (in car) and used them.
