Similar situation in Currituck http://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=43768,where the county GIS shows that Three Dunes is now the COHP, not Luark Hill. --Tom Layton

I found this trip report this winter while I was in the area and did a
repeat of these points and do agree Kill Devils Hill is likely the high
point, but of note the Nags Head Woods point is fully vegetated and
stabilized. I added a peak in PB for the high dune of Run Hill State
Natural Area which lies in between the two points. From these shifting
active dunes you can see north to Kill Devils Hill, but really count see
south to Nags Head with all the trees.

While out there I also visited the Hill benchmark on Manteo, a short hike
up a vegetated dune similar to Nags Head Woods, third highest peak in Dare
County I guess. TR's on PB.

Jockeys Ridge is only going to get smaller, they expanded my region so that
is one of the state parks in my region now, and staff there said that it is
in the process of reverting to a maritime forest but that will take some
time and eventually it may become active dunes again.

Dare county top 6
91' Kill Devils Hill
90' Nags Head Woods
78' Hill Benchmark
72' Duck Benchmark
71' Run Hill High Dune
68' Jockey's Ridge
