Eberhard Jurgalski 1. There is no true definition about Himalaya and Karakoram, the "new" mountain terrain borders by prominence and dominance are far away from being accepted, but we could begin with accepting them, because they are more logical than the "old" traditional, but arbitrary borders. One time I will write a detailed story about the history of High Asian separating. One very important example is readable on page 3 of my Dominance page. So, as the "borders" of Himalaya and Karakoram are not clear (many different opinions are here and there!), the whole complex of High Asia should be included in a "50 Finest" list. 2. It would be good to have an altitude cut, because of several foot hills with a lot of prominence. First I thought on my High Asian definition, every mountain with 5800 m and more (my Altitude Class 9), but even Makalu would be out then. So I tried with AC 10 (>6443 m), then Gasherbrum I would be just out of the TOP 50. In the end I thought, well, every mountain higher than elsewhere in the world, the "Highest" Asia, AC 11 (over 7088 m). The TOP 50 would include 11 8000ers and I know a climber, who climbed all of them plus three others. This would be the largest challenge in the world and maybe popular one time. Just one of them was not climbed before (Kangkar Pünzum). This is my suggestion to a High Asian "50 finest" table!
