Berkeley County Highpoint Trip Report

three areas and BM Shanghai on Third Hill Mtn (2,172 ft)

Mike Schwartz's report is still quite valid. The blue-blazed trail is called the Beacon Trail, although as Mike noted, the tower is now beacon-less. The trail continues north of the road following the ridge line of Third Hill Mtn but it is not mentioned in Allen DeHart's guidebook Hiking the Mountain State, and I don't know how far it extends.

Like Mike, I was unable to find any bench mark. I would estimate the total hike, including the three indistinct areas south of the tower, to be between 2.5 and 3 miles round trip. It took me 1 hour 15 minutes to do this hike on this well-maintained trail with gentle grades.
