Braxton County High Point Trip Report
USGS BM Rose on south county line (2,183 ft)

Starting at the Little Birch Post Office on CR 19-40 (former US 19 as indicated on USGS date sheet for
BM Rose), go 1.8 miles south and turn left (east) onto Crites Mountain Road/CR 19-35. Reach a crest at
5.9 miles, from where a wide gravel road goes off to the right, and park.
Directions on the data sheet to this point are valid, except that the garage and school mentioned as
landmarks no longer exist. Bushwhack east through easy woods toward obvious high ground. Pass over a
first knob, not the summit, cross a very slight saddle, then look for a witness post at the far end of the
second knob. BM Rose is eight feet north of the post, and a much older, eroded, unmarked stone is three
feet south of the post.
