Mineral County Highpoint Trip Report

Date: September 10, 2008
Author: Charlie Zerphey

Followed Mike Schwartz's report from April 2001. The evening before, I drove on WVA 42 and located a new cell tower and, according to my topo, it appeared that from the tower a shorter bushwhack could be made directly to Black Rock. The foreman at WVA DOT area allowed us to park overnight in a secluded area and told me there was road from WVA 50 at the eastern edge of the scenic overlook for Saddleback Mountain.

It is a mowed and easy road to the cemetery that Mike refers to in his report. I must have fallen a half dozen times on this hike as the rocks and briars seemed to be my down fall.

It took me about 3 hours and 15 minutes for this HP.
