Laramie County Highpoint Trip Report

USGS benchmark Twin in the Twin Mountains (8,146 feet)

Date: August 6, 2009
Author: John Brooks

The eastern approach previously described is no longer accessible since the private road CR-202 / Willadsen Road is gated at the entrance from Harriman Road.

Take exit 339 off I-80 and go South on Remount Road. Take sharp right after 0.7 mile, and continue 4.4 additional miles to Duck Creek Road at (41° 4.165' N, 105° 18.005' W). Take a left and continue 0.6 mile along dirt road to park in front of gate at (41° 3.883' N, 105° 17.432' W), elevation 7,690 feet.

Head SW up the hill into the open prairie land for 0.1 mile. Then head SE for an additional 1.6 miles directly to the summit. There is an easy grassy slope on the NW face to follow all the way to the rocky summit.

On the return, be sure to know the bearing to your parking spot (or waypoint), since the wide open prairie hills all look the same; and a little off-course travel will cost you additional time.
