Lincoln County High Point Trip Report

Wyoming Peak

We got up early Thursday and drove west of Big Piney to Wyoming Peak, HP of Lincoln Co. We were stopped 2 miles short of the TH by deep snow. We had to hike 2 miles to the TH, then a mile along a lake, then up 2500' in 1.5 miles to the summit. We never saw a sign of trail anywhere, and bush-whacked the entire way. Deep snow through woods for 1500' up, then across a broad basin to the base of the summit ridge. I scrambled up a steep face of scree/snow, then along a ridge 1/3 mile to the top.

There is a little abandoned shelter on top, probably an old fire lookout. I ran down the ridge, glissaded the slope, and snow-shoed out, as the snow was getting very mushy by then. Our trip took from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, and we were very dehydrated. Full sun the whole day, very warm, over 60 F at all times.
