Teton County Highpoint Trip Report

This is a technical climb that I completed using Exum Mountain Guides. With Exum, it is a two day climb, where you hike up to the saddle between the Grand and the Middle Teton on the first day and then to the top of the Grand the next morning.

The trail leaves from the Lupine Meadows Parking Lot, which is near Jenny Lake in the heart of Grand Teton National Park. We left the saddle on the second day at ten minutes before four in the morning and got to the top just before 7:30 am, just after the sun came up. We hiked the Exum Ridge to get to the top, which is a 13-pitch route. We came all the way down on the second day. It included a 100-foot rappel off the top. The elevation gain is about 7,000 feet and I'm not sure of the mileage.

You can climb the Grand without a guide service but you need a permit to do so from the Park Service. There is good information at the Exum website.
