Photographs from a backpacking trip led by Kurt Mitchler with a boy scout troup in summer 2002. After climbing Mt Lyell (the Tuolumne County highpoint) the troup followed the route suggested earlier by Adam Helman for gaining the Mariposa County highpoint via a high pass (ca 11,600 feet).

In turn, Adam Helman researched this route by having explored it the previous summer after he, Kurt, and Edward Earl had climbed Mount Lyell the previous day.

All photographs are taken from said cross-country route and are described below using the number and letter designations in Adam's original trip report.

References to "the Pass" correspond to the ridge joining Amelia Earhart Peak on the north with Simmons Peak to the south.
